Holiday Floral Trends, Styled 3 Ways
It’s just about time to start decking the halls this holiday season, and nothing brings a room to life quite like fresh florals and greenery. We’re not talking your traditional poinsettia and tinsel, either. We teamed up with the talented floral designers of Wild Roots LA to style the popular blooms of the season three different ways, for three different festive focal points in your home.
What are the holiday floral trends this season?
Your favorite blooms might be harder to find during the colder months, but never fear. Sprigs of spruce and evergreen are always available as a base for a wreath or an arrangement, and florals in cool, moody colors work beautifully for fall and winter themes. This season is all about texture, so you’ll see a combination of smooth petals, bristly pine needles, and some unique plants with soft and fluffy fibers.
For this set of looks, Wild Roots strayed away from traditional holiday picks like red and white, and instead chose cool, neutral tones that’ll work great with any existing decor.
This season, you’ll see:
- Cool, neutral colors
- Sprigs of spruce and evergreen
- Plants with texture - smooth, bristly, and fuzzy alike
- Lots of layers
- New renditions on the classic wreath
- Bedside bouquets for cozy guest rooms
Look #1: Modern Mantelpiece
Wild Roots on the piece:
For those of you that live in year-round warmer climates and don't have the luxury of seasonal changes and mantles to decorate - we got your back. Shelves. Our holiday shelf installation was an exercise in freedom and play. If we can't play at home, where can we?! This time of year provides the perfect opportunity to put down your schedules and make something fun to enjoy in your space. We chose seasonal tree branches, cozy, feathery textures, and light blooms to bring the outdoors inside this bedroom. It's like waking up in a wintery forest.
So much texture! This lush arrangement works perfectly for a mantelpiece surrounded by your hanging stockings, or placed on any other shelving unit worthy of such a statement. Something like this makes an excellent talking point for guests while sitting around a crackling fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa. We love the neutral tones and full roses, and sprigs of rosemary smell amazing in the home. Candlesticks add to the holiday vibes - but be safe if choosing to light real ones!
Look #2: Unconventional Wreath
Wild Roots on the piece:
I always get really swept up in the magic that this time of year brings. Cozy evenings reading by the fireplace, candlelit dinners with sweet friends, and all the hot cider I can get my paws on. I’m not sure how to explain it but as the end of the year approaches, I tend to look at everything with just a bit more wonder. That inexplicable sense of wonder is the inspiration behind this wreath -- I love the wintry feeling that these cool shades of green add to any space, and I think there are few things more festive and just plain cute than tiny pinecones.
Florals used:
We’re in love with this unique take on the classic holiday wreath. It’s pieced together with many twigs of pine and spruce, accented by tiny pinecones and full roses, and a lush tillandsia (commonly known as an airplant) acts as a focal point. You can hang something like this as an art piece in your bedroom or a common space, or on your front door to greet your holiday guests.
Look #3: Holiday Bedside Bouquet
Wild Roots on the piece:
We designed this piece to bring a sense of warmth and rest wherever it is placed. Sprigs of rosemary and cedar blend with these roses to create this really gentle, slightly woodsy fragrance. Cannot get enough of it! (Sidenote: the geometric patterns and metallics on this planter are totally happening right now, and we’re not mad about it at all.)
Florals used:
Level up your guest bedroom for your holiday visitors with a bustling bouquet next to their cozy mattress and fresh sheets. Rosemary will leave the room smelling amazing, while warm, wintery colors and greens send the most beautiful welcome message. Wild Roots finished the look with a wintery planter of white and gold, they found this one at the DTLA Flower Mart!
